Important news for hospitality and leisure businesses needing support during the current Covid surge:

The Government has announced a £1 billion grant for the hospitality, leisure and cultural sectors to protect jobs and businesses throughout the period, through cash grants of up to £6,000, depending on rateable value:

  • Businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 or above: £6,000
  • Businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000: £4,000
  • Businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or below: £2,666

These grants mean that the rent of 95% of all small businesses premises in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors is fully covered, and will benefit around 200,000 properties in total.

There will also be £30 million made available to the Culture Recovery Fund to support theatres, museums, and other vital cultural institutions.

Furthermore, given the likely impact on all businesses from rising infection levels, the Government is reintroducing its Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme, whereby SMEs can claim a cash rebate from the government for the cost of SSP for each employee for two weeks.
