Last month, The Prime Minister negotiated an excellent Withdrawal Agreement which will allow us to leave the EU. Once this deal is put into action and we’ve left the Single Market and Customs Union, we will be able to strike new trade deals with countries all around the world.
We have a golden opportunity to shape our future as a truly global, outward-looking free-trading nation.
The Secretary of State for International Trade, Liz Truss, has been working on new free-trade agreements with Australia, New Zealand and Japan amongst many other countries.
Last month, the Department for International Trade launched consultation schemes so that you can all have your say about the new relationships that we are forming around the world. They can be found here: www.gov.uk/government/consultations/trade-with-japan.
This consultation ends on November 4th.
Additionally, the department is also working on providing as many resources as possible so that the UK can make the most of these new trading opportunities.
In particular, it is upgrading its website to offer support to any individuals or businesses who are looking to become an exporter. The website will offer advice on global markets and export opportunities. Please visit https://www.great.gov.uk/ for more information.
I would urge all business owners in Daventry who export globally to make the most of these resources and capitalise on the new free-trading outlook that Britain can pursue.
