.

Many of you will be aware of the two new unitary councils which will be replacing a handful of existing councils and bringing them under one roof. For those who are unaware of this change, more information can be found here: https://www3.northamptonshire.gov.uk/councilservices/council-and-democracy/transparency/Pages/unitary-councils.aspx

Last week, I received a handful of letters from Luke Hall MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government with an update on the situation of these new unitary councils.

Mr Hall has informed me that the structural changes have been put to Parliament. If approved by Parliament, the Order will give effect to the Secretary of State's decision to implement the proposal, as modified, for the abolition of the exitsting eight councils in Northamptonshire and the establishment of two new unitary councils of North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire from 1 April 2021 and provides for transitional arrangements.

Please continue to follow my site for updates as when I receive them.
