Over the last few months I’ve been contacted by many residents at Overstone Lakes Caravan Park, with concerns about planned site closure between January and March 2021. In ordinary circumstances, non-permanent residents at Overstone Lakes must vacate the park from January to March each year.
I have repeatedly sought guidance from the site owners, Allens Caravans (as well as the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government) about this, to see if the annual closure can be suspended this year, given the uncertainty and concerns shared with me by residents about vacating during the coronavirus pandemic.
I’m really pleased to say that, after a lot of correspondence with my office, Allens Caravans have decided to allow holiday home owners to stay on at the park during this normal winter close period (January 15th to March 15th). I hope this will provide some much-needed reassurance and stability for concerned residents in the early part of next year.
Those who stay on at Overstone during the annual closure period will pay a cost in line with usual monthly fees, and the park’s facilities will remain closed. I would say that whilst very welcome, official permission is still required from the local authority and landlord and Allen’s Caravans will write to residents when hopefully everything has been finalised in a few weeks.
