Yesterday, the Prime Minister set out new COVID-19 measures for England, following a recent rise in cases.
From Monday, people in England must not meet socially in groups of more than 6. This applies in all settings, indoors and outdoors, including private homes. The police will have legal powers to disperse gatherings of more than 6 and issue fines if this new measure is not followed.
There are some limited exceptions to this - if your household or support bubble has more than 6 people in it, you can continue to meet. Secure venues (restaurants, places of worship, gyms etc.) can continue to host more than 6 people, but individual groups in these venues must not exceed 6 members. Educational and workplace settings will not be affected.
It's important that we continue to control the spread of coronavirus, and reduce strain on the NHS, particularly during the winter as demand for health services increases. Please do follow these new guidelines, so we can all do our part to save lives.
Full information about these changes can be found in the attached letter from the Prime Minister below.
