Some ‘Daventry’ residents have recently raised concerns about crime in the villages of Earls Barton, Spratton, and Brixworth – including theft and damage to vehicles overnight.

I have brought these concerns to the attention of Northamptonshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner, to ensure that local security and safety is maintained, and this problem is resolved as quickly as possible.

Kevin Mulligan, the Local Policing Commander for West Northamptonshire, has advised that several lines of enquiry are being pursued since this issue arose in early November.

‘These include intelligence gathering in respect of online marketplace disposal of items that have been stolen, ANPR research of vehicular movements during the period of note and ongoing patrol and proactive deployment of my response and neighbourhood staff as well as our Rural Crime Team and officers from Specialist Operations including Road Crime Team and Dog Support.’

Stephen Mold, Police and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire, has also reassured me that house-to-house enquiries and CCTV collection in the affected areas are currently underway, and Northamptonshire Police have met with the parish council and community safety partnership to discuss setting up a local Streetwatch scheme.

I will provide more updates about this issue, and any further responses that I receive from the Police, as and when available. In the meantime, you can contact me about this, or any other local concerns, at [email protected].
