Thank you for contacting me about reforms to the Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA).
I firmly support the Government’s commitment to see mental health treated on a par with physical health. That is why I supported the Government’s proposals to bring forward reforms to the MHA. I understand that the Government is reviewing the outcome of the Joint Committee on the Draft Mental Health Bill’s pre-legislative scrutiny report on the draft Bill and will respond in due course.
